Newton Aycliffe learned yesterday that their next round opponents in the FA Vase will be Wearside League frontrunners Willington.
The Blue & Whites are a side steeped in non-league history, and after a turbulent couple of seasons, now sit three points clear of their division, with a game in hand. Willington finished bottom of the Wearside League in 2008-09, as Aycliffe romped to the title.
Robert Lee's side have won eight games from eight in their camapign so far, and yesterday despatched Northern League outfit Seaham Red Star to reach the second qualifying stage of the Vase.
Former Newtonians striker Phil Caley currently plays for Willington, as does former Spennymoor and Bishop Auckland midfield star Andrew Richardson.
The game is due to be played on Saturday September 15th, 2012, with a 3pm kick off at Willington's Hall Lane stadium, with the winners going on to host either Esh Winning or Albion Sports from the Northern Counties East League.
