Newton Aycliffe have signed defender Paul Harvey from fellow Northern League outfit Norton & Stockton Ancients.
The 28-year-old left-back, a team-mate of Danny Earl at Norton, will go straight into the squad as Aycliffe face a must-win game at home to Penrith on Wednesday night.
He will compete with Matthew Coad and Stuart Owen – who has performed admirably in the position, despite preferring to play further forward – as Aycliffe appear to have solved a position that has been problematic for a while.
Meanwhile, young forward Lewis Wing has signed for the club’s FA Vase opponents Esh Winning.
The 17-year-old Newtonian had struggled to break into the first team since signing for the club last month.
He joins Anthony Campbell and Luke Black, who departed for Darlington Cleveland Bridge last week.
Campbell and Black's registrations are retained by the club, so the duo could well be seen at Moore Lane Park in the near future.
The club will release more information when it is available.
Newton Aycliffe v Penrith, Wednesday 26th September, Moore Lane Park, 7.45pm, £5 adults, £3 concessions.
