Aycliffe climbed up to fifth in the skilltraining Northern League second division with a grinding victory at home to bottom-of-the-table Darlington RA.
Allan Oliver was forced to field a patched up side, with no less than 11 first team players missing through injuries, suspensions and music festivals!
Stand-in striker Anthony Forrest was on target for Aycliffe, equalising in the first-half after they’d et again went 1-0 down, before John Close put the home side 2-1 up.
Mark Brischuck, another striker helping Aycliffe out, scored the second-half winner with a well-taken goal.
Darlington RA grabbed a second which ensured a nail-biting finish, but Aycliffe held on to claim their third win of the campaign.
