Newton Aycliffe suffered their fifth league defeat of the season with a disappointing display at home to Gillford Park.
The Carlisle club, who were 2-0 up by half-time, leapfrogged Allan Oliver’s side with the victory, climbing to eighth in the skilltraining Northern League second division.
Aycliffe, by comparison, slipped to 14th with their third consecutive league defeat at Moore Lane Park.
Mark Wood, returning to the side for the first time in four weeks, gave Aycliffe a glimmer of hope with an injury-time penalty, but Gillford dashed any hopes of a late comeback by grabbing a 95th-minute third.
