A drab affair at Moore Lane Park saw the Roofer's complete the double over their hosts with their 11th victory on the road.
Akin to last week, the game was not without refereeing controversy as Chase McMullen unfairly seen red for the side in blue just before half time.
By then Roofing were a goal to the good, a man worse off and had missed a penalty. Chris Hepple the man dismissed for a professional foul on McMullen after just seven minutes. Five minutes later a rash tackle in the area by Davey Forrest gave Kevin Davison the chance from 12 yards but Stevie Richardson got down well to his left to smother the spot-kick. The same man atoned for his miss though after 28 minutes when he coolly lobbed the advanced Richardson following an error from Forrest.
Aycliffe got level on 57 minutes when Dan Mellanby expertly controlled strike partners Elliot Gardner's goalbound effort and turned and fired low from inside the six-yard box but the last word was to be had by the second-placed Roofers when Craig Nelson's weakly hit half-volley from 25-yards bounced up off the turf and over Richardson's head into the net - a huge slice of bad luck.
Aycliffe's Paul Broom was brought to hospital near the end after falling on his arm in a strong challenge and Dan Robinson played the last 15 minutes with his head patched up following a nasty cut.
But with Sean Tarling and Paul Stout returning to the bench, Allan Oliver should have enough reinforcements within his squad to cover injuries and suspensions.
