Newton Aycliffe FC v North Shields

Aycliffe got back to winning ways in the first round of the Brooks Mileson Cup with an encouraging win at home to North Shields.
The 4-2 victory booked a second round tie with first division outfit and near neighbours West Auckland at Moore Lane Park, with a date yet to be set.
Young midfielder Josh Knox opened the scoring with a spectacular goal after just five minutes.
Aycliffe doubled their advantage 10 minutes later when ean Tarling set up Dan Mellanby and he fired home.
Despite Andrew Hay pulling a goal back on the half hour, Aycliffe could've had the game wrapped up with Jonathan Pennock hitting a post, the same player forcing Robinson into a point blank save shortly after and Anth Campbell, restored to his favoured left wing berth screwing wide when well placed on the stroke of half time.
Mellanby added a second on the hour following a strong run and despite Christopher Hunt scrambling home on 83 minutes.
An Anth Campbell rocket from a free-kick in the last minute ensured Aycliffe progressed with their two-goal margin, with substitute striker Phil Caley missing a 95th-minute penalty.
