Match report

By Paul McGeary
Aycliffe produced an accomplished performance in despatching of their former Wearside League foes on a very greasy Moore Lane Park surface, which lent to a few hearty tackles on an evening when the home side never looked out of control.

Recent signing from Bishop Auckland, Dan Lennon started up front with Elliot Gardner as Allan Oliver once more was forced to shuffle his pack due to work commitments and injuries - John Close and Chris Renshaw the latest casualties.

Kyle Swankie started his first game of the season and provided some very penetrative play on the left hand side and Simon Rathbone looked assured slotting in at the seemingly cursed centre half positon.

Lennon opened his account on 41 minutes following up when the 'keeper spilled Paul Broom's effort and two minutes later doubled his tally with a looping header, Broom again providing the assist.

Despite Paul Robertson nodding the visitors back into the reckoning just after half time, Aycliffe wrapped things up with further strikes from Danny Robinson and substitute Liam Cooper returning from suspenson.

The Blues go into the hat alongside the likes of sNL1 sides Norton & Stockton, Billingham Town and holders Billingham Synthonia all vying for a quarter final place.
