Newton Aycliffe failed to upset local rivals and league leaders Shildon on a cold night at Dean Street.Goals from Lee Scroggins, Mark Hudson and former Newtonian Ben Wood kept the Railwaymen ahead of second-placed Celtic Nation.Allan Oliver's men were facing a tough task and failed to record a headline-grabbing result as the hosts ran out deserved winners.Andrew Spence was busy throghout and had to save well from Craig Ruddy after just two minutes. But he was beaten eight minutes later by Scroggins' arrowed drive from 30 yards into the bottom corner.Aycliffe's task was made much harder when full-back Stephen Gibson was forced off through injury midway the opening period.Spence made good saves from Jamie Harwood and Ruddy as the Royal Blues reached the interval just the one goal down. But nine minutes later the task facing the men in blue was made even harder. Dion Raitt fouled hauled down Harwood in the area and Hudson made no mstake from the spot. And it was game over just after the hour mark when Hudson's mishit shot fell to Wood in the area and he coolly slotted in.Wood was denied a second by the frame of the goal before Harrison Davies forced a save out of Shildon keeper Lewis Graham in the dying stages.
