Match ReportWednesday 2 September Bishop Auckland 0 Newton Aycliffe 2Another excellent performance saw Aycliffe take three points against Bishop Auckland. Goals from Alex Kitchen & Zak Boagey were enough for Aycliffe to make it to 10 points after the first five games of the Ebac Northern League season. Both sides had a player sent off in the first half although most in Heritage Park were perplexed at some of the decisions.Aycliffe made a positive start with Matty Moffat coming close after just 8 minutes but being denied by Bishop keeper Mark Bell, not for the last time. The visitors took the lead on 22 mins with a Jordan Laidler free kick being headed into the top corner of the net by central defender Kitchen who had another outstanding game. With a minute to go until halftime Jordan Laidler beat two defenders on the left wing before playing the ball into the box. Boagey ran into the box & fired a powerful shot home.Bishop started the second half positively with Brian Close having to clear off the line after 48mins. Aycliffe keeper Liam Mooney was called into action just before the hour blocking a good shot.Aycliffe held their own well with Moffat & Laidler causing problems for the Bishop defence throughout. This was another good result for an Aycliffe side which is on the up & playing with increasing confidence.
