CLUB STATEMENT

Newton Aycliffe FC can announce that Brian Atkinson has decided to step down from the manager role with immediate effect.
This last season has been tough for everyone involved with the Club & no-one has worked harder than Brian over this last year. However, relegation has been a blow & we can fully understand that Brian has decided to relinquish the role.
Brian returned to his hometown club as Manager in 2021, having previously served as assistant to Allan Oliver. The highlight of Brian's tenure was undoubtedly winning the Ebac Northern League in 2023, which led to three seasons in the NPL. The first two season saw us finish 7th, then 6th in the NPL East Division, the highest level the Club has ever reached in the NLS. 2024/2025 also saw us equal our best ever run in the FA Cup (2nd Qualifying Round replay).
Chairman Allan Oliver, said:
“I want to thank Brian for everything he’s done for the Club over the years. That Northern League title will live long in the memory of all of us. I fully respect his decision to move on. He leaves with my full respect & gratitude.”
The Club will make an announcement on Brian's successor in due course.
